Elephants Benefit from CBD Too!

The Warsaw zoo in Poland gave three African Elephants doses of CBD after veterinarians saw signs of stress when an elderly member of the herd died. When the herd structure changes, animals - especially elephants - get anxious and grief. Cannabis oils are added to their diet to combat their depression and anxiety.

The head veterinarian at the zoo got the idea from a 2019 study conducted by Cornell University where sixteen dogs were given CBD oil twice a day for four weeks. The results were significant, with over 80% of the dogs taking the CBD showing reduction in pain levels and improvement of life quality without any side-effects.

With more research, more evidence of CBD's beneficial impact on anxiety, depression, and insomnia surfaces. At Sleepy Oak, we love animals and are happy to see that they are benefiting from CBD as well.
