Why L-Theanine? Does it really work?

What is L-Theanine?

In 1949 L-Theanine was discovered as a constituent of tea in Kyoto, Japan. L-Theanine is an amino acid found in tea and some mushrooms. It relieves stress, improves cognition, boosts mood, strengthens your immune system and improves your sleep quality.

How does L-Theanine affect your brain?

L-Theanine affects alpha brainwaves which is associated with mental relaxation. It also boosts serotonin, dopamine and GABA. According to the Sleep Doctor, “These chemicals are known as neurotransmitters, and they work in the brain to regulate emotions, mood, concentration, alertness, and sleep, as well as appetite, energy, and other cognitive skills. Increasing levels of these calming brain chemicals promotes relaxation and can help with sleep. L-Theanine also lowers levels of anxiety promoting brain chemicals.” L-Theanine relieves stress, improves cognition, boosts mood, and most importantly induces sleep.

Does L-Theanine really work?
